conspiracy

Put on your foil hat and head on over to MedPage.  My most recent post over there has brought some ire from the Autism/Mercury conspiracy theorists.  Go on over there and join the zany and madcap discussion.

I am really confused as to why someone running for president would want to emulate a woman famous for taking her clothes off.

    Dr. Rob,

    I think this article is what the woman on the MedPage blog was talking about. It certainly seems intriguing, but frustrating that it’s so secretive that other doctors and researchers can’t see the hypothesized mechanism behind it all.

    It’s so sad when issues of health and medicine become so polarized, and people start taking matters of science and health personally. This case in Georgia seems to suggest there is more research that needs to be done, but I’m worried that others will seize upon this and use it improperly.

    Remember Dr. Flea’s great series on vaccine-preventable illness? That would make a great patient-education handout — “Why We Vaccinate”

    * Yellow Alert–why to vaccinate against Hepatitus B (HBV)
    * Dew Drops on Rose Petals–Chicken Pox (Varicella)
    * The Cough of One Hundred Days–Whooping Cough (Pertussis)
    * Risus Sardonicus–Tetanus
    * Strangling Angel–Diptheria
    * Go Home and Die–Hib (Haemophilus influenzae type b)
    * The Can from Hell–Polio (Poliomyelitis)
    * On My Left Shoulder–Smallpox (Variola)

    I just wish I had been smart enough to snap up those posts as page-source….

Welcome

Welcome to my blog. I am a practicing primary care physician in the Southeastern US, caring for patients of all ages (Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics). This blog covers a wide variety of issues, including the following: What it is like to be a physician, dogs driving cars, what troubles are in our system, toddlers with flame-throwers, what would it take to fix that system, llamas, death and dying issues, mutants, and accordions. Maybe I need to write about mutant dying accordions with flame-throwers. Hmmm....I feel a post coming. Anyhow, I like variety. Life is always lived with both laughter and tears. If you are a regular reader of this blog, it is also filled with nausea and nightmares. Thanks for stopping by. -Dr. Rob
