Yeah. You may have noticed that the Thanksgiving Contest never got judged. It was simply too hard to judge a contest that had so many serious and heartfelt answers. I am sorry for the bait and switch. Still, I do appreciate the wonderful thoughts that were expressed in the comments. I am thankful for my readers.

Still, I won’t be leaving the GLA out of the mix. I still have some to hand out. There are some people who have distinguished themselves as worthy Golden Llama Recipients:
- Vijay (Scanman) deserves a golden llama for several reasons. First, he has put up with me and my antics for many years. We have grown up (sort of) in the Medical Blogosphere together. Second, he reached the milestone of 100,000 visitors to his blog. Considering how long his blog takes to load (like mine), that is an amazing accomplishment.
- Dr. Cris and Kathy were nice enough to nominate me for a Shorty award for humor. Even though I have little to no chance to win, I appreciate the support.
- Bruce Campbell – Who was highest bidder for the lobster quilt made by Ramona Bates (another GLA recipient). Bruce is a phenomenal writer, and has also been nominated for a Medical Blog Award for best literary blog. I have to say that he is extremely deserving of it. I am sure winning the MBA will almost rival the GLA.
- Seaspray – Who simply begged for one and made me feel generous. She is quite the nice person and so since the GLA is mine to give, I am giving her one.
So now, I have an assignment for the next GLA. In my last physical exam post, I did a limerick about a man who could tickle himself.
There was a man once who self-tickled
Whose friendships just came at a trickle
He’d sit and he’d sit
With hand in his pit
His fingers eventually pickled
This got me thinking that it would be fun to see what kind of limericks my readers could come up with. So here is the challenge: write a limerick about any medical blogger or medical blog-related subject. Humor is preferred but not necessary.
Rhyme away!

Many thanks for the GLA, Rob. It’s an unexpected honour.
Though I’ve yearned for it, I didn’t expect to be bestowed one just for being myself!! I thought I couldn’t come up with something whacky enough on one of your contests to earn it. I’m so glad that you think I and my blog are worthy candidates
Dr Rob – so begging and nice qualified me? If I knew THAT … I would’ve begged and been nice a lot sooner! I can grovel with the best of em! I find it is particularly effective when I cling to one ankle and allow myself to be dragged while simultaneously begging with tears streaming down my face. I was close Rob..real close to doing that.
So does this mean I can actually put said award on my sidebar?
Thanks for your kind words Rob.
And your benevolence with the coveted llama.
I left you a comment in my blog before I saw this.
Oh…and I think I have already told you that I can not even think of a llama without thinking of you and chuckling. Oh… and that for most of my life… I never thought of llamas… except for the zoo incident. I didn’t even know how to spell llama correctly…with TWO L’s and now thanks to your llama attraction…I am sensitive to the existence of llamas. I also find that I enjoy typing a word that begins with TWO L’s.
Hopefully now that I have received this prestigious award… my husband will be able to get a full nights rest because night…after…night he was woken up to the sound of me yelling out “I WANT THE GOLDEN LLAMA!” I think he was getting jealous. He just doesn’t understand.
Thanks for the Golden Llama Award Rob!
Just one more thing … I am still striving for the pinnacle of funny. I don’t know what or when it will be… but I am striving. I mean…after all… can one ever have too many Golden Llama Awards?
Dr Rob – wrote a thank you and it disappeared! Please tell me your moderating. This is just a test.
okay delete the test and this one. thanks
Dear Rob,
Thank you so much! You are too kind! I think we all write because we have to. Now I can’t wait to try writing a limerick.
As a resource for your readers who will also be creating limericks…here are the most common words that rhyme with “llama:”
bramah, comma, drama, mama, mamma, momma, rama, sama, bahama, bernama, grand lama, osama, pajama, salama, closet drama, dalai lama, fujiyama, fukuyama, yokohama, inverted comma, and musical drama
Happy holidays!
Dr Campbell, you said”I think we all write because we have to.”
I think that is so very true.
Before blogs… for years… I would even scribble something on a napkin or anything available to capture a thought that was important.
Blogging is just a little bit of heaven on this side of earth.
I missed out on your thanksgiving contest. Congrats to all of the winners.
Tag..your it! Put the llama away and com out to play! (part of a limerick?)
A medblogger who lives in pajamas
Is strangely obsessed with his llamas
He promised to fight
For their God-given right
To insurance from Mr. Obama
Thought of you last weekend, when I purchased “Funky Llama” wine at the local grocery store. I’m told it was good wine, too.

Does anyone remember the llama limerick from the film “The Killing of a Chinese Bookie”? I’m desperately reaching back into my memory, though can only recall it was a little too rude to post here.
