I don’t remember life before

To enter life no longer lone

Began to lose unfounded pride
So difficult to navigate
So treacherous the trek

Was bracing for a wreck
But through the drenching of the rain
The ship it kept aright

Began to see a light
Though buffeted by wind and wave
The course was true and straight
A man who thought he knew so much
He turned and saw his mate
Despite the overwhelming toll
The errant path had taken
A man who thought he knew so much
Saw she was never shaken
So now beyond this marked day
Through rough or peaceful weather
He doesn’t have to know so much
Just hold the course together
A thankful man who knew too much
Now humbled by his fortune
