Golden Lllama Award

The Golden Llama Award (known as the GLA to the Hollywood elite) is given out to people who have demonstrated upstanding character, imagination, and a flare for the dramatic.  It is also given to those who I just feel like rewarding - even if all they did is sit around and pick their toes while watching reruns of Gilligan’s Island.  Since it is my award, I am the one who gets to choose.

This also means that if you covet this award, it will pay to be really nice to me.

The following people have won Golden Llama Awards:

  • Kelli - She did not come with a last name, so I suppose that if your name is Kelli, you can rightly call the award yours.  She gave the best answer to the first caption contest.
  • ehoffman - this seems like a strange name, but it is what was given.  I suppose it is a person named hoffman who felt it would be more modern to be ehoffman.  If she worked for Apple, she would probably go by ihoffman.  She gave the best caption for the second caption contest.
  • Dr Val - who has always had a voice that was quite reasonable.  She filled in for me while I was away and did a bang-up job.  She left dents in the side-bar and there were little mouse droppings everywhere after she was here.  I will put out some D-Con next time she guest hosts.
  • Robin - who I am not certain is either a bird or a side-kick superhero.  She has pretty good manual dexterity, so I suspect she is a superhero.  She made the GLA logo as well as the Zippy logo.
  • Kevin MD - Truthfully, I am just schmoozing by putting him here.  He is such an important guy that I want him to be my friend.
  • Doc Mayhem - Good name, and very good submission to the third caption contest.  Well done!
  • Ramona Bates - Suture for a Living.  This one was long overdue.  She made a quilt for my niece who was severely injured by a drunk driver.  It was incredible.  They don’t make them much nicer.
  • Moof - Probably the one most deserving of a GLA - She fixed the blog yesterday, and helped me with my more serious crash last year.  She also is the person who LONG AGO discovered my blog and sent all her readers to see me.
  • Enrico - Saved my heiney before grand rounds by redirecting the URL so my Medscape readers could make it to the blog.  Whew.  Thank goodness for smart people to bail out dopes like me.
  • Andrea - who gave me the MSNBC article.  Gotta give some high-fives for heading me in the right direction there.
  • Ken O - the only person who seemed to notice that I changed the text up on the upper right hand side of the blog.  He found the Easter egg.  He wins.

Welcome

Welcome to my blog. My name is Dr. Rob. I have recently changed what is up here to test the loyal readers and see if they pick up the change. Who knows? A golden llama may be at stake. If you need to know, I am a practicing primary care physician in the Southeastern US, caring for patients of all ages (Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics). This blog covers a wide variety of issues, including the following: What it is like to be a physician, dogs driving cars, what troubles are in our system, toddlers with flame-throwers, what would it take to fix that system, llamas, death and dying issues, mutants, and accordions. If you get confused because this blog waffles between happy and sad; between serious and absurd, good. Life does that too. Good to have you here. Wash your hands before you leave. -Dr. Rob
